Information on the Pittsford NY Duck Drop and Aware Bear Rochester NY.
The annual Pittsford NY Duck Drop was held on July 13th 2012 and Aware Bear was there to represent the Pittsford Chamber of Commerce and photograph another Pittsford summer event. The town supervisor Bill Carpenter and Andre Alves from the Pittsford Chamber were present at the 2012 Duck Drop.
The Duck Drop is held every year at the Eire canal and it is a great place for families to gather and watch the little rubber ducks race each other. Live music, food and beverages are available.
This Pittsford event has become very popular over the year and offers a cash prize for the winning ducks. Ducks can be purchased before the event starts. Every duck has a number on them. Families can purchase as many ducks as they like.
After all the ducks are purchased they are put in big barrels and carried over to the top of the Schoen Place bridge, where they wait for all the barrels and volunteers to gather and literally get their ducks on a roll.
Once everyone is ready, the barrels are picked up and dumped (the rubber ducks) in the Eire Canal in the historical Village of Pittsford New York. No ducks were injured or died during this Pittsford NY event J
Once all the ducks are in the water, the canal’s doors are slowly open and everyone races to the finish line. Meanwhile the crowd cheers and waits to see who is going to win this event. Andre Alves from Aware Bear Pittsford NY photographed the whole event.
